A verified Google+ Page will get your towing business found – Below are the steps to get it done right
If you haven’t already done it, you need to get your own Google Plus Page. It’s an important piece of the puzzle to getting found where your customers are looking.
To being with I want to tell you this. You probably get phone calls everyday from people who say they can help get you listed, I get them too. A recorded message that says there’s space available on the first page, you’re asked to press one and you’ll be immediately connected to someone who can help.
THIS IS NOT GOOGLE
It’s someone trying to take your money. So don’t be fooled by ANYONE who is trying to charge hundreds of dollars to claim your local listing for you. Some are even trying to take control of your page.
DON’T LET THEM DO IT
But why is getting verified so important?
I’m glad you asked. Google will only show listings that are verified. And having a listing on Google can do a lot for your business. It can drive traffic to your website, and provide you with more cash calls, so you can decrease your dependency on motor clubs and other abusers of our industry.
But this can not happen unless your listing is VERIFIED!!
Let’s Get Your Towing Business’s Google Plus Page Verified
Step #1 Create a gmail account for your business
You need a Gmail account for your business. Got to www.accounts.google.com You will use this gmail address for your Google+ listing, your website analytics, and your webmaster tools account (if you have this set up).
Step #2 Go get your business listing
Once you’ve created an account and gotten your gmail address – it’s time to go get your listing. Start, by going to Google My Business and click on the green button that says “Start Now”.
Step #3 Enter your business’s information
Once you click on the green “Sign In” button you’ll see a map with a box that prompts you to enter your business information. If you are not signed into your business gmail account already, you will need to do that first.
Start entering your business name first and you will see that Google will start to fill in the information for you.
When you see your listing click on it. Then click the blue button at the bottom that says “Continue.”
On the next screen, you will then see a box like the image below, in the upper left hand corner. Check the box that says “I am authorized to manage this business and I agree to the terms of service.” Then click the blue “Continue” button.
You’re almost there, a few more steps and you will have your Google Plus Page listed and verified.
Step #4 Choose the method of verification
From here you may be given the option to either get a post card mailed to the address you verified was your business address, or in some instances a phone call will be used for verification. The phone call is much quicker, so I would suggest you go that route if offered, but make sure the number listed is correct and you are by the phone.
Step #5 Post card/Mail verification
When you receive the postcard, to verify your Google Plus Page, you’ll need to go back into the Google Plus listing and enter the code. So how do you do that?
- Log into your Gmail account.
- Click on the square that is broken into 9 smaller squares in the upper right corner, just left of the bell with a circle around it.
- A drop-down box will appear – click on the “More” button at the bottom of that drop-down box and click on this icon “My Business”
- From there you will go to your google plus page, it should like something like the image below.
- All you do next is click on the “Verify now” button and enter the code that’s on the post card.
If you are successful and have entered the code correctly, the next page you see will look something like this. When you see the small white badge with the check mark in it that means that your Google Plus Page is verified.

How much is the monthly charge for a google account?
Carol
Google doesn’t charge money for a Google My Business page. If you want to run an AdWords campaign, that’s where the cost comes in. Pay Per Click online advertising can be a terrific investment for most towing companies. If you’d like to get on the phone we can discuss your options.
